ARMENIA, Cilician Armenia. Royal. Levon I, 1198-1219. Tram (Silver, 23 mm, 2.76 g, 3 h). 'Levon King of all the Armenians' (in Armenian) Levon seated facing on throne decorated with lions, placing his feet on footstool, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and fleur-de-lis in his left. Rev. 'By the Will of God' (in Armenian) Two lions rampant back-to-back, each with heads reverted; patriarchal cross between them. AC 282ff. CCA 123 ff. Beautifully toned. Areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.
